The Scar Left Behind From Being Severely Morbidly Obese I have a deep emotional scar that was left behind from being severely morbidly obese.  I experienced a lifetime of ridicule.  I developed a severe case of agoraphobia which made it difficult for me to leave my home for many years. Agoraphobia is caused from traumatic experiences. For over 10 years I barely left my home.  There was a 5 year stretch when I only left my home to go to the Emergency Room.  I was wracked with deep fears that others would belittle me because of obesity.  I was in a wheelchair for over seven years due to a debilitating fall.  People would literally jeer or say cruel things because I was a fat woman in wheelchair.
